CATL, a global leader in lithium-ion battery manufacturing, has introduced its revolutionary Choco-SEB battery packs, designed to reshape the electric vehicle (EV) industry. This innovation simplifies battery swapping, addressing common challenges like charging time and range anxiety.
Key features of Choco-SEB Battery Packs
Inspired by the look of chocolate bars, the Choco-SEB packs come in two sizes—20 lb and 25 lb. Tailored for China’s rapidly growing battery-swapping market, these packs offer a cutting-edge battery-as-a-service solution for EVs.

Specifications and performance
20 lb Pack
- Designed for: Class AE0 compact vehicles (wheelbase: 2.2–2.3 meters).
- Range: Up to 500 km per charge (China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle – CLTC).
25 lb Pack
- Designed for: Class MB midsized vehicles (wheelbase: ≤2.9 meters).
- Range: Up to 600 km per charge (CLTC).
The packs utilize lithium iron phosphate (LFP) and nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) chemistries for optimal energy efficiency and safety.

Pioneering battery standardization
A cornerstone of the Choco-SEB design is standardization, which simplifies battery replacement. According to CATL CEO Robin Jing, standardized battery sizes enable faster swapping at designated stations, significantly improving the user experience and reducing range anxiety.
