Ferrari to unveil first fully Electric Vehicle in late 2025
Ferrari is set to join the global lineup of automakers with the launch of its inaugural fully electric vehicle. According to a recent report by Autocar, the iconic prancing horse brand will unveil its first battery-electric vehicle in late 2025, with the official launch following sometime the next year.
Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna confirmed the development to Autocar, revealing that prototype testing is already in full swing.”Please note that we have prototypes currently on the road, having completed several thousand kilometers. Additionally, our client base includes highly skilled test drivers,” Vigna stated.
Despite the challenges in ensuring Ferrari’s electric cars maintain their unique character, Vigna remains confident. “Our cars’ first users are the test drivers. They drive numerous cars, allowing them to easily compare each one. This metric is crucial for us.” he explained.
Ferrari’s new Electric Vehicle to be crafted in state-of-the-art facility
Ferrari’s forthcoming electric vehicle will be produced at the brand’s newly established E-building, situated just north of its Maranello headquarters. This expansive facility, covering about 450,000 square feet, is equipped with the latest technology to support the development of Ferrari’s electric model. CEO Benedetto Vigna, in an interview with TopGear, emphasized that this new building is crucial for the design, engineering, and assembly of the advanced components required for the electric vehicle.
The concept of an electric Ferrari may seem surprising, but the company has a history of pioneering innovation. From its early use of KERS in Formula 1 during the 2009 season to the launch of the hybrid LaFerrari and the more recent plug-in-hybrid SF90 Stradale, Ferrari has continually adapted to new technologies.
Details about the new vehicle are still under wraps, and we will have to wait until its official release to learn about its powertrain and performance. Ferrari usually finalizes pricing just before a car goes on sale. Initial estimates suggest the electric vehicle could be priced around $500,000, though some reports, like one from Reuters, indicate a potential price of at least $535,000.
