In short: selling as a private seller

We set a fair price based on your battery health (SoH) and market data, and let you choose: list on the marketplace or let dealers bid. Have your V5C logbook, a valid MOT and service history ready, and tell the DVLA once you've sold. Updated 2026-07-10.

Why through EVTrader

SoH counts towards the price

We factor in battery health — generic buyers don't. It often means hundreds to thousands of pounds.

You stay in control

You set the price and choose the buyer. We never become the buyer.

Fair price from our data

The price comes from our EV market data and residual-value index — not a guide that ignores the battery.

Hassle-free

No endless forms. You handle everything via WhatsApp, free and without obligation.

The documents you need

V5C logbook

The registration certificate. You notify the DVLA of the sale online and send the new-keeper slip to the buyer.

Valid MOT certificate

A current MOT builds confidence and makes the sale smoother (required from the car's third anniversary).

Service history

A complete service history and any charging/warranty documents strengthen your listing.

Finance settlement (if applicable)

If the car is on PCP, PCH or HP, outstanding finance must be settled and the finance company must consent before you can sell.

You need the V5C logbook (and to tell the DVLA you've sold the car online), ideally a valid MOT certificate, and the service history. If the car is on finance (PCP, PCH, HP), the outstanding finance must be settled and the finance company must consent first.
There's no specific UK rule requiring you to state the SoH. For private sales it's 'buyer beware', but you must not actively misrepresent a known fault. A proven SoH is a strong selling point and raises the price. From 18 February 2027 the EU battery passport will make the SoH accessible.
Both are possible — you decide. List on the marketplace for private buyers, and/or let dealers from our network bid for a fast, certain sale. You compare and choose.
