BYD released official exterior and interior design sketches of the second-generation Seagull — to be named the Great Seagull — on 22 and 24 September 2026, showing a five-seat city car measuring 4,205 mm in length (425 mm longer than the current Seagull) with a 95 kW motor and provision for LiDAR on at least one variant, ahead of a confirmed launch before the end of 2026.
BYD released the first official exterior and interior design sketches of its second-generation Seagull — to be sold under the name Great Seagull — on 22 and 24 September 2026.
The new model is substantially larger than the outgoing four-seat Seagull. It measures 4,205 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width and 1,570 mm in height on a 2,650 mm wheelbase — 425 mm longer and 150 mm longer in wheelbase than the car it replaces. The expanded platform supports five occupants instead of four, moving the Great Seagull closer in size to BYD's own Dolphin.
The powertrain also gains output: the electric motor rises to 95 kW (127 hp) from 55 kW (74 hp) in the current Seagull. At least one variant will offer an optional LiDAR sensor alongside front, rear and side radars for a broader driver-assistance hardware suite. BYD states the model will use its Blade Battery 2.0 cell chemistry.
The design sketches show new trident-shaped front and rear light signatures, a minimalist cabin with a floating central touchscreen and a new two-spoke steering wheel. BYD has not yet published battery capacity, CLTC range or pricing ahead of launch. The Great Seagull is confirmed for a Chinese domestic market launch before the end of 2026.
