Electrify America Expands NACS Pilot to Five California Hubs and Prepares Its First All-NACS Stations
· EVTrader EV News
Electrify America is adding NACS (SAE J3400) connectors to five large-format fast-charging hubs in California — including flagship sites in San Francisco, San Diego and Santa Monica — and will convert four further California stations to operate exclusively with NACS plugs, its first all-NACS locations.
Electrify America announced the most significant expansion of NACS (SAE J3400) connectors within its network on 1 July 2026. In a first phase, the company will add NACS connectors alongside existing CCS1 hardware at five large-format charging hubs in California: the Harrison Street Flagship in San Francisco, Westfield Valley Fair in Santa Clara, Fashion Valley Mall South in San Diego, the Santa Monica Station and the Santa Barbara Flagship. Rather than replacing existing CCS infrastructure entirely, Electrify America will convert selected CCS1 stalls to NACS at each hub while retaining CCS1 availability for vehicles equipped with that connector. A second phase will go further: four California locations — in La Mirada, Arcadia, Santa Ana and Diamond Bar — will be converted to operate exclusively with NACS plugs, marking the first all-NACS sites in Electrify America's network and providing an opportunity to evaluate dedicated NACS station performance. An East Coast expansion of the NACS pilot is planned as a subsequent step. The moves reflect the accelerating adoption of NACS as the de facto US fast-charging standard, with nearly every major automaker selling EVs in North America now committed to the SAE J3400 connector. Electrify America currently operates more than 1,000 stations with roughly 5,000 DC fast-charging stalls across the United States.
