GM Switches All 2027 Models to NACS and Launches Energy Pass for Seamless Charging

· EVTrader EV News

General Motors is transitioning all 2027 Chevrolet, GMC and Cadillac EVs from CCS1 to NACS and introducing Energy Pass, giving GM EV drivers integrated access to Tesla Supercharger, Ionna and Electrify America through the automaker's existing apps.

General Motors is converting its entire 2027 electric vehicle lineup to the North American Charging Standard (NACS), dropping the CCS1 connector across Chevrolet, GMC and Cadillac nameplates. The transition covers the Chevrolet Blazer EV, Equinox EV and Bolt EV, as well as the Cadillac Lyriq, Optiq, Vistiq and Escalade IQ. NACS, now standardised as SAE J3400, gives GM drivers native access to Tesla's Supercharger network of more than 27,500 stalls across North America. Alongside the connector switch, GM has introduced Energy Pass, a feature embedded in the My Chevrolet, My GMC and My Cadillac smartphone apps. Energy Pass allows GM EV owners to find, charge and pay at Tesla Supercharger, Ionna and Electrify America stations without creating separate accounts; ChargePoint and EVgo are set to follow. Together, the participating networks cover approximately 70% of all DC fast chargers in the United States, plus many Level 2 chargers. The combined NACS and Energy Pass changes mark GM's most significant charging-infrastructure commitment since it first announced its shift away from CCS.
