Ionity Raises European Charging Prices by 4% From July, Citing Rising Energy Costs

· EVTrader EV News

Ionity increased charging prices by an average of 4% across large parts of its European network from 1 July 2026, affecting ad-hoc users and recent monthly subscribers, citing rising electricity procurement costs driven partly by geopolitical pressures on European energy markets.

Ionity announced on 23 June 2026 that charging prices across large parts of its European network would increase by an average of 4% from 1 July 2026. The adjustment affects ad-hoc payers using contactless payment or the Ionity app without a subscription, as well as customers with monthly subscriptions taken out after mid-February 2026. Customers holding monthly subscriptions taken out before that cutoff, and those with annual subscriptions concluded before 1 July 2026, retain their existing prices until their current term ends. In Germany, ad-hoc charging costs up to €0.76 per kWh; subscription rates start at €0.41 per kWh. Ionity cited rising electricity procurement costs on European energy markets as the primary driver, attributing part of the pressure to ongoing geopolitical developments. The company stated it had absorbed earlier cost increases before concluding that an adjustment was unavoidable. Ionity currently operates more than 5,000 charging points at over 600 stations across Europe, targeting around 13,000 charging points at 1,300 sites by 2030. The network is a joint venture of major automakers including BMW Group, Hyundai Motor Group, Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis and Ford, focusing on ultra-high-power charging along European motorway corridors.
